Import tariff

On 12 October 2012, Sri Lanka increased import taxes on the following product lines (import taxes charged are listed in parantheses):

  • Granite 2516.11 (Rs. 24,000 or US$ 186.6 per cubic metre),
  • Granite cut into blocks 2516.12 (Rs. 12,000 or US$93.3 per cubic metre),
  • Stand-stone 2516.20(Rs. 12,000 or US$93.3 per cubic metre),
  • Other types of building stones 2516.90(Rs. 12,000 or US$93.3 per cubic metre),
  • Fruits and vegetable 0710.80, frozen vegetables, onions and garlic 0710.80.10 (Rs. 600 or US$ 4.6 per kg),
  • Dried, sliced, cut, or powdered but not further prepared vegetables 0712.20, 0712.90.10, 712.90.90 (Rs. 600 or $4.6 per kg),
  • Citrus fruit fresh or dried 0805.20, 0805.20.10 (Rs. 30 or US$0.23 per kg),
  • Wheat 1101.00.10 (Rs. 20 or US$ 0.15 per kg),
  • Malt extract based preparations 1901.90.10 (15% rate).
