On June 24, 2019 Minister of Finance Bill Morneau announced the Government of Canada will provide Can.$275 million (US$208.68 million) in support to LNG Canada’s major liquefied natural gas (LNG) complex in Kitimat, British Columbia. According to the announcement, this Can.$40 billion (US$30.4 billion) project “represents the largest single private sector investment in the history of the country.”

The federal support will include Can.$220 million (US$177 million) to help fund gas turbines for LNG Canada, provided through the Strategic Innovation Fund.
