Import tariff quota

On 9 July 2010, the Government of Turkey announced the introduction of an import tariff-quota on sunflower seeds and sunflower-seed oil classified in the Turkish Customs Tariff Schedule under the customs tariff codes 1206.00.91.00.19, 1206.00.99.00.19, and 1512.11.91.00.00. The rate of duty was set at 0 percent for sunflower seeds within a tariff quota of 650 thousand tonnes. On the other hand, the rate of duty was set at 15 percent for sunflower-seed oil within a tariff quota of 260 thousand tonnes. The out of quota tariff rate (MFN duty) for sunflower seeds and sunflower-seed oil is 27 percent and 36 percent respectively. As a result of this Decree being issued, some goods that previously paid the MFN duty, enter with lower tariff rates within the quota level.

On 17 July 2010, with a Communiqué published in the Official Gazette, the Turkish Government announced the management and distribution procedures of the import tariff quota.

The measure is valid from 16 January 2011 until 30 June 2011. Previously, for the year 2010, the Government of Turkey adopted an import tariff quota for the same amount but with different in-quota tariff rates (see related state act).
