Import tariff

On 11 March 2019, Pakistan's Ministry of Finance, Economic Affairs, Revenue and Statistics through SRO 327(I)/2019 amended the regulatory duty on the imports of cellular phones not in completely/semi-knocked down conditions.

The earlier duties were as follows - 

  • Rs 250/set on phones with C&F value up to USD 60 per set
  • 10% on phones with C&F value above USD 60 and up to USD 130 per set
  • 20% on phones with C&F value above 130 per set

The amended duties are as below - 

  • Rs 180/set on phones with C&F value up to USD 30 per set
  • Rs 1800/set  on phones with C&F value above USD 30 and up to USD 100 per set
  • Rs 2700/set on phones with C&F value above USD 100 and up to USD 200 per set
  • Rs 3600/set on phones with C&F value above USD 200 and up to USD 350 per set
  • Rs 10,500/set on phones with C&F value above USD 350 and up to USD 500 per set
  • Rs 18,500/set on phones with C&F value above USD 500 per set.

The amendment from relative to absolute duties will increase the regulatory duties on some cellular phones imports while reducing it for others.
