The Trade Commission of MERCOSUR has adopted new legislation allowing Argentina to set a temporary tariff-rate quota on certain shelled nuts.

On 10 September 2015, the Trade Commission of MERCOSUR has adopted Directive 26/15 allowing Argentina to establish a temporary 2% import duty on certain shelled nuts.
The new legislation affects products classified under tariffs subheading NCM 0802.22.00 for a quota of 1,000 tonnes. Previously to this legislation, no tariff rate quota applied to this product.
According to the WTO tariff download facility, the applicable import tariff outside the quota is 6%.
Directive 26/15 has entered into force on 19 February 2016 and only applies to Argentina for a period of 24 months.
