On 1 January 2019, the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry issued Decree no. 44/2019 adding new tariff lines to the list of products that can be imported only if produced in registered foreign factories and which was annexed to Decree 43/2016.

Import licensing requirement

On 1 January 2019, the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry issued Decree no. 44/2019, which reinforces the previous Ministerial Decree No. 43/2016, and adds new goods to the list of products that can be imported only if produced in registered factories abroad. The new goods that require registration with the General Organisation for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) are as follows:

• Bags
• Items for the transfer and packaging goods (containers, boxes, bags, and similar products)
• Shaving and hair care appliances
• Mobile phones
