Export tax

On 29 July 2016, the Egyptian Ministry of Trade and Industry issued Decree no. 678/2016 imposing an export duty on certain mining ores.

As per the Decree, the following HS codes will be affected with the following rates: talc blocks and powder (HS 2526) with a rate 350 EGP/tonne (39.50 USD/tonne), talc powder (HS 2526) with a rate 250 EGP/tonne (28.22 USD/tonne), quartz ore (HS 2506) with a rate 75 EGP/tonne (8.47 USD/tonne), and Feldspar ore (HS 2529) with a rate 200 EGP/tonne (22.57 USD/tonne).

This Decree was intended to expire on 29th of July 2017 instead it was terminated on the 7th of February 2017 by Decree no. 145/2017 that extended and amended the duty level, see related state act.
