In May 2019, the Panamanian authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of pork. In August 2019, the investigation was terminated without the imposition of duties.

Safeguard

On 3 May 2019, the Panamanian authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of pork. The products subject to investigation are classified under HS code 0203. The investigation follows the application lodged by the domestic pork industry.

On 22 August 2019, the Panamanian authorities Resolution No. 004 of 4 July 2019 terminating the safeguard investigation on imports of the subject good without the imposition of duties. This follows the withdrawal by the domestic pork industry of their application.
