Repatriation & surrender requirements

The Saudi Labor Minister, Adel Fakieh, announced on 24 October 2011 that the government will introduce a "salary protection program" through which expats would be obliged to keep the bulk of their salary within the Kingdom.
Given that 9 of 10 workers in Saudi Arabia are foreigners, the minister argued that millions of riyals are transfered abroad every year and this would be harmful for the local economy.
According to the press, the Ministry has not given further information concerning the amount of the ceiling.
The measure is not yet implemented.
