Import tariff quota

On 16 September 2010, the Trade and Investment Board of Ecuador (i.e. Consejo de Comercio Exterior e Inversiones or COMEXI in Spanish) has adopted Resolution No. 584 eliminating temporarily the import tariffs on cotton not carded or combed.

The 0% import tariff only applies to the import of a total of 26,641 metric tonnes of cotton. Previously to this legislation, the tariff rate quota applied to a total of 20,725.2 metric tonnes.

The general import tariff outside the quota is set at 5%

This measure entered into force on 13 October 2010 for the period of one year.

Update
