Import tariff

On 3 February 2015, the Ecuadorian Foreign Trade Committee (i.e. Comité de Comerico Exterior or COMEX in Spanish) has adopted Resolution No. 004-2015 temporarily eliminating the import duties on wheat and wheaten products classified under tariffs subheadings 1001.19.00.00, 1001.99.10.00, 1101.00.00.00 and 1103.11.00.00.

The new import duty has been decreased from 10% and 20% to 0% depending on the product and it applies until 31 December 2016.

The new legislation has entered into force on 3 February 2015.

 
Update
On 23 December 2016, COMEX has adopted Resolution No. 40-2016 extending the 0% import duty until 31 December 2019.
