On 1 March 2013, the Ecuadorian Foreign Trade Committee (i.e. Comité de Comerico Exterior or COMEX in Spanish) has adopted Resolution No. 103 eliminating temporarily the import tariffs on solid residues extracted from soybeans corresponding to tariff line 2304.00.00.00.
The new 0% import duty applies to a maximum of 1,380,627 metric tonnes (673,666 metric tonnes to be imported in 2013 and 706,961 metric tonnes to be imported in 2014) and it is restricted to imports taking place once the domestic soybean harvest has been utilized. Previously to this legislation, no import tariff quota applied to this tariff line.
According to the WTO tariff database, the import duty outside the quota is 15%.
This measure has entered into force on 2 March 2013 until 31 December 2014.
