State loan

On 4 April 2019, the EIB and A.Hatzopoulos S.A. signed a loan agreement having a total value of EUR 12 million (approx. USD 13.5 million). The loan is granted under the EIB Midcap Programme Loan for Central and South East Europe.

The EIB loan will support the company's acquisition of equipment for the production of flexible packaging materials as well as its development of flexible packing solutions, materials and products.

According to the EIB: "The project aims at enhancing and safeguarding the promoter's (ed. A.Hatzopoulos S.A.) competitive position through the implementation of state-of-the-art production equipment and also through the development of technologies and solutions necessary for the current and future business requirements."

A.Hatzopoulos S.A. has its headquarters in Greece with locations in the United States and a number of European countries. The company provides various packing solutions and materials for, among others, the food, pharmaceutical and cosmetics industry. 

A state act in the GTA database is assessed solely in terms of the extent to which its implementation affects foreign commercial interests. On this metric, the investment support granted here is discriminatory.
