Import tariff quota

On 19 August 2014, the Eurasian Economic Union set tariff quotas for the imports of agricultural goods in 2015. Compared to the allocations for 2014, Kazakhstan's frozen bovine meat  (tariff heading 0202) quota decreased from 15.3 thousand to 10 thousand tonnes.

The listed agricultural products originating from the countries of the Commonwealth of Independent States do not count towards the quota. The Decree allows for the possibility to reinstate Belarus pork quota to 40 thousand tonnes if pork imports reach 70% of the quota in the first half of 2015.

The present measure does not alter either the existing in-quota or out-of-quota tariffs. The former are listed in the EEU Unified Customs Tariff, while the latter seems to be listed in the national legislation of each country.

Since the in-quota tariffs are invariably lower than out-of-quota ones, the change will affect imports negatively.
