Other export incentive

On 14 November 2018, the European Commission allocated a total value of EUR 118.3 million (USD 133.8 million) for funding promotional campaigns of EU agricultural products implemented in third countries for the year 2019. This is an increase of EUR 11.2 million compared to the previous year when the allocated budget was EUR 107.1 million (USD 128.52 million), see related state act.

The budget consists of promotional topics of EU goods in third countries with an additional focus on promotional campaigns concerning table olives or in the following jurisdictions: China, Japan, Korea, Canada, USA, Mexico, Colombia, South East Asia and Southern Asia. The budget also allocates funds for promotional campaigns in the internal market, see related intervention.

In this context, Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Phil Hogan, stated in a press release that: "Europe is the world's top producer of quality food and drink. I am happy to say that, with an even greater emphasis on promotion efforts in 2019, we will increase awareness of this fact both in the EU and in third countries with high growth potential, to the benefit of our farmers and agri-food producers. Our increasing number of trade agreements means more opportunities for our producers to tap into and the Commission stands fully behind them to support them in the promotion and export of their products."

Update

On 19 November 2019, the European Commission extended the programme and allocated a budget of EUR 118.4 million for funding promotional campaigns of EU agricultural products in third countries during 2020. This represents an increase of EUR 100 000 with respect to the 2019 budget (see above).
