Import quota

Regulation 47/2018 by the Indonesian Ministry of Trade amends regulation 20/2014 for the fourth time (see related state act). Its main adjustment is the simplification of the import allocation system for alcoholic beverages. The amendment removes, in article 7, the import quota provision. Hence, the import of alcoholic beverages shall no longer be subject to import quotas.

Previously, the Ministry set each year a quota depending on the national demand for alcoholic products, with numerous rules on what kind of company may obtain an import quota (see art. 7 of 2014 regulation).

The regulation came into force on 6 April 2018.
