Anti-dumping

On June 22, 2012, the Secretary for Foreign Trade of the Brazilian Ministry of Development, Industry and Foreign Trade decided to initiate an anti-dumping investigation on imports of motorcycle tires from China, Chinese Taipei, Thailand and Viet Nam (Circular No. 27, 22.06.2012). The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code: 4011.4000. The complaint was lodged by the National Association of the Tire Industry (Associação Nacional da Indústria de Pneumáticos - ANIP) on December 14, 2011. The investigation started on the day of the publication of the circular in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on June 25, 2012.
 
On December 18, 2013, the Brazilian authorities decided to impose a definitive anti-dumping duty on imports of motorcycle tires from China, Thailand and Viet Nam (Resolution No. 106, 18.12.2013). The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in China ranges from USD 2.21 to USD 7.40 per kilogram, depending on the exporting company. The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in Thailand ranges from USD 5.72 to USD 6.18 per kilogram. The amount of the duty imposed on imports originating in Vietnam ranges from USD 0.78 to USD 7.79 per kilogram. No duty was imposed on imports originating in Chinese Taipei. This definitive duty entered into force on the day of the publication of the resolution in the Federal Official Gazette of Brazil, i.e. on December 19, 2013, and is applicable for a period of five years.
