The Government of Argentina has introduced export taxes on services as well as reduced the VAT on soybean and its by-products.

Export tax

On 4 December 2018, the Argentine Congress has adopted Law 27467 amending the definition of goods subject to export taxes. Particularly, the new law has included under this category all services rendered in the country when such services shall be effectively used or exploited abroad. 

This legislation complements Decree 793/2018 as it extends the applicability of export taxes from only goods to include multiple services.

Furthermore, Law 27467 has also ratified that the general export tax is limited to 30% and 12% for the cases of goods and services that at the time Decree 793/2018 was adopted enjoyed a 0% export duty.

In addition, the new measure has confirmed that these duties apply until 31 December 2020 as it was initially announced on Decree 793/2018 (please, see related state acts).

The new provisions have entered into force on 1 January 2019.

Tax or social insurance relief

Law 27467 that has been adopted by the Congress of Argentina on 4 December 2018, has also included soybeans and its wastes on the list of products with special VAT.

As a consequence of the changes that have introduced, the new applicable VAT has been reduced from 21% to 10.5%.

This provision has entered into force on 1 January 2019.
