Import tariff

The 21 members of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) conference agreed at the 2012 Ministerial Meeting held in Vladivostok, Russia, that they would cut tariffs on a list of 54 environmental goods to 5% or less by 2015. The ministers negotiated a final APEC List of Environmental Goods on which member countries would reduce their applied tariff rates to 5% or less by December 31, 2015, 'taking into account economies' economic circumstances without prejudice to APEC economies' positions in the WTO.' The 54-product list of environmental goods will be presented to each member country's leader for final approval. Among the items on the list are bamboo flooring panels, steam boilers and parts, wind turbines, waste incinerators, solar water heaters, several kinds of machinery, and air quality or dust emissions monitors. China unsuccessfully pressed for inclusion of bicycles and honey but could not overcome opposition.
