In October 2012, the European Union initiated a sunset review and extended the definitive duty in December 2013. A sunset review was initiated in December 2018 and the definitive duty was extended for a new period in January 2020.

Anti-dumping

On 10 October 2012, the European Commission initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of peroxosulphates (persulphates) from China. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS code subheadings: ex 2833.40.00 and ex 2842.90.80. The investigation follows the application lodged on 29 June 2012 by RheinPerChemie GmbH & Co. KG and United Initiators GmbH & Co. KG. The definitive duty was originally imposed in October 2007 following the conclusion of an antidumping investigation initiated in July 2006.

On 18 December 2013, the European Union extended the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good from China following the conclusion of the sunset review. The rate of duty is 24.5% or 71.8% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price before duty depending on the company. No duties were imposed on the company ABC Chemicals (Shanghai) Co., Ltd, Shanghai. The regulation extending the definitive duty was published on 17 December 2013.

On 17 December 2018, the European Commission initiated a sunset review of the antidumping duty imposed on imports of peroxosulphates (persulphates) from China. The investigation follows the application lodged on 18 September 2018 by RheinPerChemie GmbH and United Initiators GmbH.

On 18 January 2020, the European Commission extended the definitive duty imposed on imports of peroxosulphates (persulphates) from China following the conclusion of the sunset review. The rate of duty is 24.5% or 71.8% of the net free-at-Union-frontier price before duty depending on the company. The regulation extending the definitive duty was issued on 17 January 2020.
