Price stabilisation

On 28 December 2018, the Ministry of Treasury of Argentina has adopted Resolution 367/2018 increasing the price of sugarcane-based and maize-based ethanol used in blending automobile fuels. The new prices have increased from 21.274 (USD 0.56) to ARS 22.226 (USD 0.59) per litre, and from ARS 19.846 (USD 0.52) to ARS 20.218 (USD 0.53) per litre respectively.

Due to a local content requirement imposed via Decree 543/2016 (please, see related state acts), the changes in the prices of bioethanol that are compulsorily included in automobile fuels produced in Argentina, suggests that this type of interventions are intended as a price support to domestic ethanol producers.

The new legislation has a retroactive character and the new prices apply to all purchases made from 1 January 2019.

Update
On 10 April 2019, the Ministry of Treasury of Argentina has adopted Disposition 24/2019 increasing the price of sugarcane-based and maize-based ethanol as of 1 April 2019 (please, see related state acts).
