Financial grant

As part of the Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry, and Fisheries (MAFF) 2015 fiscal year budget 1.49 billion yen (12.5 million USD) were allocated to support domestic tea production and exportation. The funds will go towards the subsidizing of the leasing of equipment, purchase of processing equipment for fermented teas, support for meeting pesticide standards for export, supplying energy saving technologies, fertilizer technologies, as well as covering the costs of 15% of oil consumption of the tea farmers.

The announced 2015 budget is a significant decrease from the 67 million USD proposed budget of 2014. The new budget also removed the subsidies previously afforded to the fruit producers.
