Tax-based export incentive

On 22 November 2018, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry through Public Notice No. 49/2015-2020 has introduced an export incentive of 5% on the FOB value of exports of Non-Basmati rice including Husked brown rice, parboiled rice, and broken rice.

The incentive is announced under the Merchandise Exports Incentive Scheme and is valid for exports made between 26 November 2018 to 25 March 2019. The incentives are calculated on the FOB value of such exports and are issued as duty credit scrips which can be used for the payment of future import duty related liabilities.
