On 20 August 2015, the Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) announced stricter application processes for employment permits for foreigners.

Under the Order, applicants for alien employment permits (AEPs) will go through a more stringent procedure to determine that there are no locals able and willing to do the job.

In addition, all successful AEP applications are posted online and in a newspaper of general circulation to inform the public. Amongst the foreign worker's details being released are his name, the position allocated, job qualifications, monthly salary range and additional benefits.

With this posting, locals with the necessary skills and ability are allowed to object to AEP grant, upon which the DOLE will further look for local applicants.

The Order comes into effect on 4 September 2015.
