The government of Argentina established reference prices on imports of certain woven fabrics of cotton originating in certain locations in Europe, Asia, South America and Africa.

Import tariff

On 8 June 2011, the Federal Administration for Public Revenue of Argentina (i.e. AFIP by its Spanish acronym) has adopted General Resolution 3121/2011 establishing reference prices on imports of certain woven fabrics of cotton classified under tariffs subheadings NCM 5209.29.00, 5209.51.00, 5209.52.00 and 5209.59.00.

The new reference prices have been set at a FOB value ranging between USD 2.38 and USD 14.28 per kilogramme depending on the characteristics of the product. Previously to this resolution, no reference prices applied to these products.

The new legislation affected the following jurisdictions: Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, Uruguay, the Republic of Korea, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, China, Chinese Taipei, Philippines, Hong Kong, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Pakistan, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam, Finland, Hungary, Norway, Poland, United Kingdom, Czechia, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey and Ukraine. 

This measure applied to imports taking place as of 9 June 2011.
