On July 7th, 2011, the Chinese Ministry of Industry and Information Technology released a list of sectors to be targeted for government support in the achievement of China's 12th Five-Year Plan (2010-2015).

The plan focuses on promoting Chinese industry by boosting domestic growth in targeted sectors and technologies. The 2011 list of key industries reveals the exact ones that policy measures would be directed towards. Foreign firms do not come under the remit of such plans.

The list is broken down into eight broad sectors, then 27 subsectors; these into 176 key technological areas.
