On 15 June 2018, the Polish authorities issued a new investment promotion law providing income tax exemption to certain investment projects. Tax exemptions range between five and ten years for greenfield projects and brownfield projects aiming at increasing production capacities, diversifying production or substantially changing production processes.
The duration of the tax exemption depends on a number of factors including the creation of jobs, project expenditures, R&D involvement, location, SME involvement and investments in promoted sectors. According to UNCTAD's investment monitor, promoted sectors cover "aviation, shipbuilding, biotech, pharma, electrics, machinery production, chemicals, furniture industry, food processing, IT and medical equipment and transport means production". The law entered into force on 30 June 2018.
