State loan

On 6 December 2017, the Argentine Ministry of Production announced the launch of a new credit line exclusively for local software and IT services companies.

The new credit line is divided into different instruments, two of which consist of loans directed to a) to finalize projects and invest in hiring employees and the acquisition of technological equipment, and b) for the acquisition of software and IT companies located inside or outside Argentina.

In the case of the first loan, companies can obtain up to 75% of the costs of the new project with a limit in ARS 15 million (circa USD 866,500 at the time of the announcement). The repayment period is 12 months and the interest rate is of badlar + 4.5% to 6.5% (the Ministry of Production will bonify between 4% to 6% of the total interest rate).

As for the loans for acquisitions, Argentine software companies will be able to access up to 80% of the costs, with maximum amounts set at ARS 80 million (USD 4.6 million) in the case of SMEs and ARS 200 million (circa USD 11.6 million) in the case of big companies. The maximum repayment period is 15 years if the loan has been in Argentine pesos and 10 years for loans in American dollars. The interest rates will be calculated based on the badlar + spread for credits in the local currency and libor + spread depending on the repayment period.

The Argentine Foreign Trade and Investment Bank (BICE by its Spanish acronym) will be the financial institution managing these credit lines.
