The Argentine Government established reference prices on imports of certain woven fabrics of synthetic filaments yarn originating in certain South American jurisdictions.

Import tariff

On 19 May 2009, the Federal Administration for Public Revenue of Argentina (i.e. AFIP by its Spanish acronym) adopted External Notice 43/2009 establishing reference prices on imports of woven fabrics of synthetic filament yarn classified under tariffs subheading NCM 5407.20.00.

The new reference price was set at a FOB value of USD 2.80 per kilogramme. Previously to this notice, no reference prices applied to this tariffs subheading.

The new legislation affected the following jurisdictions: Brazil, Colombia, Chile, Ecuador, Paraguay and Uruguay.

This measure applied to imports taking place as of 20 May 2009.

Update
On 23 April 2018, the Federal Public Revenue Administration of Argentina has adopted General Resolution 4231 establishing criterion values for imports of synthetic yarns classified under tariff subheadings NCM 5407.20.00 and replacing all previous reference prices set on this tariff line. The new legislation entered into force on 26 April 2018 (please, see related state act).
