The South African Revenue Service (SARS) increased customs duty on wheat and wheaten flour.

On 19 October 2018, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) adopted Notice 1134 increasing the import duty on wheat and wheaten flour from ZAR 29.85 c/kg (approx. USD 0.021) and ZAR 44.77 c/kg (approx. USD 0.031) to 49,07 c/kg (approx. USD 0.034) and 73,61 c/kg (approx. USD 0.051) respectively.
The affected products are classified under the following HS code subheadings: 1001.91 and 1001.99 as well as 1101.00.10 and 1101.00.90.
This import tariff applies to all countries except for the ones belonging to the Southern African Development Community.
