In December 2011, the government of Philippines initiated a new safeguard investigation.

On 13 December 2011, per order of the Secretary of the Department of Trade and Industry, the Philippines extended safeguard measures on imports of clear and tinted glass for a period of 4 years, i.e. until 13 December 2015. The HS codes considered are: 7005.2190 and 7005.2990
The following measures were taken:
Philippine Pesos 3,404.64/MT (metric ton) for clear float glass in the first year
Philippine Pesos 3,234.41/MT for clear float glass in the second year
Philippine Pesos 3,137.38/MT for clear float glass in the third year
On 25 September 2012, the definitive safeguard duty was amended as follows:
Philippine Pesos 4,300.59/MT for tinted float glass in the first year
Philippine Pesos 4,085.56/MT for tinted float glass in the second year
Philippine Pesos 3,881.28/MT for tinted float glass in the third year
Certain developing countries were excluded from the measure.
