On May 11, 2012, the Government of Argentina adopted reference prices applicable to the importation of certain type of embroidery in the piece, in strips or in motifs from China and other Asian countries.
The products subject to this measure are classified under the following tariff lines of the MERCOSUR's Harmonized System: 5810.10.00, 5810.91.00, 5810.92.00 and 5810.99.00.
These reference prices entered into force on May 15, 2012.
Argentina introduced reference values of precautionary nature forimported goods in June 2005 (in Spanish: valores criterio decarácterpreventivo). The stated purpose is tostrengthencustomscontrolandprevent under-invoicing.
