On 31 May 2009, the Turkish authorities initiated a sunset review of the definitive safeguard duty imposed on imports of vacuum cleaners. The products subject to review are classified under the following HS code subheadings: 8508. and 8508. The definitive safeguard duty was originally imposed in August 2006.

On 11 July 2009, the Turkish authorities extended the definitive duty imposed on imports of the subject good following the conclusion of a sunset review. The rate of duty is the difference between the actual price and a set threshold level. The threshold level is USD 34 per piece in the first year, USD 33 in the second year and USD 32 in the third year. The duty enters into force on 10 August 2009 for a period of three years. Certain developing countries are exempt from duty.

The definitive safeguard duty expired on 10 August 2012.
