Safeguard

 On January 5, 2006, the Turkish government initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of vacuum cleaners for a voltage of 110 or above. (HS Code 8509)
 
On August 10, 2006 the following safeguard measure was applied for three years:
A variable duty was applied for products under a certain threshold level. The difference between the threshold level and the actual price was collected as additional financial liability. The threshold level was USD 40 per piece in the first year, USD 38 in the second year and USD 36 in the third year.
On 10 August 2009, this measure was extended for three more years.
Certain developing countries were excluded from this measure.
