In June 2011, the government of India initiated a new anti-dumping investigation. In December 2012 a definitive antidumping duty was imposed. In April 2017 a sunset review was initiated and in June 2018 the definitive antidumping duty was terminated.

Anti-dumping

On 13 June 2011, the Indian Directorate General of anti-dumping & allied duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry, initiated an anti-dumping investigation on imports of digital offset printing plates from China and Japan. The product subject to investigation is mainly classified under the following HS code subheading: 8442.50.20.

On 4 June 2012, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification imposing provisional anti-dumping duty on imports of digital offset printing plates from China and Japan. The product subject to duties fall under HS code subheading: 8442.502, 3701.30.00, 3704.00.90, 3705.10.00, 7606.91.91.7606.92.90. The amount of duty imposed on imports originating in or exported from China and Japan is between USD 5.26 and 6.60 per square metre depending on the product specification. The measure is in force for a period of six months.

On 3 December 2012, the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification imposing a definitive anti-dumping duty on above products from China. Subsequently, the investigation and provisional duties are terminated concerning imports from Japan. The product subject to definitive anti-dumping duties fall under HS code subheadings: 8442.50.20, 3701.30.00, 3704.00.90, 3705.10.00, 7606.91.90, 76 06.92.90. The amount of duty imposed on imports originating in or exported from China is between USD 4.87 and 5.81 per square metre depending on the product specification. The measure is in force for a period of five years from the imposition of provisional anti-dumping duties, i.e. 4 June 2012.
 
On 25 April 2017, the Indian Directorate General of Anti-dumping & Allied Duties, Ministry of Commerce and Industry initiated a sunset review of the anti-dumping duty imposed on the subject good from China. This follows the application lodged by Tech Nova Imaging Systems (P) Ltd.

On 2 June 2017, in connection with the above sunset review the Indian Ministry of Finance issued the Customs Notification extending the definitive antidumping duty on imports of the subject good from China until and including 3 June 2018.

On 1 June 2018, the Indian authorities terminated the definitive duty imposed on imports of digital offset printing plates from China following the conclusion of the sunset review.
