Financial grant

At the start of the 2016 Japanese fiscal year, The New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO) created a financial grant program for the development of next-generation laser technologies for manufacturing. Corporations may apply for a grant of up to 200 million yen (1.79 million USD); however, NEDO states that the grant size can change depending on the scale of the corporation applying. In 2018 NEDO had a budget of 2.55 billion yen (22.9 million USD) for this program. The funding for this particular program will end at the end of the 2020 fiscal year.

New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organization (NEDO)
Operating as a national research and development arm of the Japanese government, NEDO promotes technological developments related to the realization of "energy and global environmental problems" as well as "strengthening industrial technology". NEDO will accomplish this through the planning of projects, surveys, academics, consulting, subsidies and the implementation of public offerings from the government.
