BANGLADESH: Official Pre-Approval Now Mandatory for Import of IoT Devices - HKTDC Research
On 24 April 2018, the Bangladesh Telecom Regulatory Commission (BRTC) issued a directive on imports of Internet of Things (IoT) devices into the country. The directive provides that it will be mandatory for a business to be registered with the BRTC if it wants to import IoT devices. Further, in case the business wants to import devices of more than 2W power output capacity it will be charged a Tk 25,000 fee for enlistment and will also require an approval from the BRTC for such imports. In case the devices imported are less than 2W, no approval is required and the enlistment fees are reduced to Tk 5,000.
