On 26 July 2016, the Indonesian Ministry of Trade issued regulation 56/M-DAG/PER/7/2016 updating for the second time that year (see related state acts) the import provisions on corn.

Compared to previous regulation 20/M-DAG/PER/3/2016, regulation 56/M-DAG/PER/3/2016 introduces new import barriers for corn. In order to receive an import approval from the Ministry of Trade, importers holding a general API-P import license will inter alia require:

  • a Notification of Goods Imported (PIB),
  • proof of owning a storage unit that can hold the imported amount of corn
  • a statement from the applicant explaining the capacity of produced goods using corn as a raw material.

The regulation came into force on 8 August 2016.

Import licensing requirement

Compared to previous regulation 20/M-DAG/PER/3/2016, regulation 56/M-DAG/PER/3/2016 no longer allows importers holding a general import license API-U to import corn. The importer must now hold an API-P license, restricted only for producers.

The regulation came into force on 8 August 2016.
