On 19 January 2009, the Indonesian Ministry of Information issued regulation 07/PER/M.KOMINFO/01/2009 introducing localisation restrictions in the telecommunications sector.

Regulation 07/PER/M.KOMINFO/01/2009 by the Indonesian Ministry of Communication and Information introduces localisation restrictions in the telecommunications restrictions. Specifically, article 17 of the regulation requires tools and equipment used for wireless broadband service which uses radio frequency band of 2.3 GHz and 3.3 GHz to meet the Domestic Component Level of at least 30% for the subscriber station and 40% for the base station.
Furthermore, this localisation requirement will be raised to 50% within five years.
The regulation came into force on 19 January 2009.
