The National Bank for Economic and Social Development of Brazil (i.e. BNDES by its acronym in Portuguese) and the Inter-American Development Bank (IADB) Group launched an infrastructure credit fund for up to USD 1.5 billion.

On 30 May 2018, the BNDES announced the launch of the "B2 Infra" credit line to finance infrastructure projects. The Brazilian National Bank for Economic and Social Development is expected to provide up to 30% (USD 450 million) of the total resources allocated to the fund. The Inter-American Development Bank provided 10% (USD 150 million) to the total budget. Both parties aspire to raise the remainder from private parties and institutional investors.

The objective of these resources is to finance projects related to transportation, energy, sanitation and social infrastructure sectors like education or health.

The credit lines should be available in the second half of the year.
