On 1 January 2018, the Flemish government of Belgium introduced a scheme providing financial grants to companies in the Flemish region (VLAAMS GEWEST). The financial grants provide a percentage of the cost of R&D partnership projects between companies and research organisations. The research and development shall be able to be classified under one or more of the following categories as defined by General Block Exemption Regulation of the European Union: industrial research, experimental development or feasibility study.

The total annual budget is EUR 30 million (USD 36 million). The scheme is in force from 1 January 2018 to 31 December 2020.
