The Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration Process approved the adoption by Panama of the common import tariffs included in Annex 5.2 of the Incorporation Protocol.

Import tariff

On 28 June 2018, the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration Process (i.e COMIECO by its Spanish acronym) adopted Resolution 397-2018 allowing Panama to adopt the common import tariff include in annexe 5.2 of the Protocol of Adhesion. As a consequence, the import duties set on 483 tariff lines have been increased. The new values range from 2% to 80% whereas according to the WTO, previous values range between 0% and 15%.

The changes described in this Resolution enter into force on 1 January 2019.

Import tariff

The changes introduced with Resolution 397-2018 adopted by the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration Process on 28 June 2018, also lead to the decrease of the import duties set on 1,595 tariff lines. The new values range from 0% to 50% whereas according to the WTO, previous values range between 2% and 1333%.

The changes described in this Resolution enter into force on 1 January 2019.
