In March 2018, the Costa Rican authorities initiated a safeguard investigation on imports of certain bars and rods of steel for concrete reinforcement. The investigation was terminated without the imposition of duties in January 2019.

Safeguard

On 19 March 2018, the Costa Rican authorities issued the Resolution initiating a safeguard investigation on imports of certain bars and rods of steel for concrete reinforcement. The investigation is initiated on 29 March 2018. The products subject to investigation are classified under the following HS codes: 7214.20.00.00.10, 7214.20.00.00.90, 7214.99.20.00.10, 7228.30.00.00.10, 7228.50.00.00.10 and 7228.60.00.00.10. This follows the application lodged on 30 November 2017 by ArcelorMittal Costa Rica S.A.

On 28 January 2019, the Costa Rican authorities terminated the safeguard investigation without the imposition of duties.
