Export quota

On 10 March 2011, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry through Notification No. 31(RE-2010)/2009-14 imposed a quantity restriction of 720 million kgs on the exports of cotton yarn for the year fiscal year 2010-11 i.e. 1 April 2010 to 31 March 2011.

Earlier, on 22 December 2010, the Ministry had imposed a restriction requiring all cotton yarn exporters to obtain a license (see related state act). However, no quantity restriction was imposed back then.
