Export ban

On 6 August 2015, the Indian Ministry of Commerce and Industry issued Notification No 17 /2015-20 permitting the exports of Rice Bran oil in bulk.

The export of edible oil has been prohibited since March 2008 with an exemption on such edible oil exports in retail packs of up to 5 kg. since November 2008. (see related State Act)

Export quota

The Notification also removes a 10,000 metric ton per year quota on exports of organic edible oil. Such exports had been permitted with a quota since June 2011 (see related State Act).
