Export ban

On 1 August 2012, the Indian Directorate General of Foreign Trade through Notification 9 (RE-2012/2009-2014), prohibited the export of edible oils in branded consumer packs of up to 5 kgs.

The export of all edible oil has been prohibited since March 2008. An export quota of 10,000 tons of edible oil in consumer packs was permitted since November 2008. (See related state acts).

On 19 October 2012, the above export restriction was lifted and another export quota was introduced (see related State Act).
