Export quota

On 20 November 2008, the Indian Directorate General of Foreign Trade through Notification No. 60 (RE-2008)/2004-09 permitted the export of edible oil in branded consumer packs of 5 kgs., subject to a limit of 10,000 tons up to 31 October 2009.

The export of all edible oil has been prohibited since March 2008.

On 4 September 2009, through Notification No. 04 / 2009-2014, the validity period of the above quota has been extended until 30 September 2010 without any change in the quota permitted.

On 2 December 2009, through Notification No. 18/2009-14, an additional 10,000 tons of edible oils in consumer packs were allowed during the period 1 November 2009 to 31 October 2010.

On 1 November 2010, through Notification No. 09(RE-2010/2009-14) an additional 10,000 tons was permitted for the period 1 November 2010 to 31 October 2011.

On 28 September 2011, through Notification No. 77(RE-2010/2009-14)  an additional 10,000 tons was permitted for the period 1 November 2011 to 31 October 2012.

On 1 August 2012, the export of edible oil in consumer packs of up to 5 kgs. was prohibited but was later lifted on 19 October 2012 (see related State Act).

The Notification also permits the exports of fish oil without any conditions.
