Price stabilisation

In February 2011, China's National Development and Reform Commission announced the minimum state purchase price of rice would change thus:

Key - Type: price USD, CNY (change USD, CNY)

  • Early season: 309.75, 2040 (27.33, 180)
  • Mid-late season: 324.93, 2140 (40.76, 200)
  • Japonica: 388.70, 2560 (69.85, 460)

N.B.: All prices are per tonne.

The minimum state purchase price is the amount at which the government buys rice from farmers at the minimum price when the market price drops below that level.
