On 23 December 2011, the South African Revenue Service (SARS) increased the import duty rate on water meters from zero to the WTO bound rate of 10 percent. The duty applies to all countries, except for member states of the EU, EFTA and SADC.

Affected trading partners
The GTA retrieves its data on affected trading partners from UN Comtrade. However, for the year 2010, the database was not able to provide the affected trading partners for Botswana, Swaziland, and Lesotho.
