On March 29, 2018, the Chilean Government issued Exempt Decree 99 establishing new applicable discounts on customs duties on sugar for a one-month period starting on April 1, 2018.

Exempt Decree 99 issued by the Ministry of Public Finance of Chile established different temporary reductions on the ad valorem customs duties on raw sugar. The applicable discount for raw sugar was set at USD 34.63 per tonne whereas per tonne of refined sugars qualified as Grade 3, 4 and other substandard was set at USD 63.13. The previously applicable discounts were USD 40.74 and USD 65.89 per tonne respectively. This discount only applies to the month of April 2018.
Effective 1 April 2018, the Ministry of Public Finance of Chile also increased the temporary applicable discounts for refined sugars qualified as Grade 1 or 2, through Exempt Decree 99. The applicable discount set was USD 105.90 per tonne. The previously applicable discount was USD 103.62 per tonne.
